Implementing Relaxing Rituals into a Stressful Schedule

The long days of summer are beginning to dwindle down and the back to school season is just around the corner. With the beginning of the semester just a few weeks away, it’s imperative to begin learning how to treat your body and mind in a stressful time. Soon, assignments will begin piling on our desks and planners will begin being filled with lectures and meetings. In such a hectic time, it’s easy to forget to treat ourselves well. Whether you’re still attending school or are a member of the work force, here are three easy rituals you can implement into your busy schedule to relax yourself during a stressful time.

  1. Take a Walk

It is often said that the human brain can only handle up to 45 minutes of constant focus on a task before its concentration begins to decline. When you know that you’ll be working on something for an extended period of time, have a timer on hand so you know when your mind deserves some time off. Take a 5-10 minute break to do something completely unrelated to your task at hand. Take a walk around the building or if weather permitting, outside. The difference in atmosphere and concentration, especially if you’re in nature, will bring you peace and relaxation so when you return to your assignment, you’ll be prepared to work diligently now that your brain has received a well-deserved rest. If you sit at a desk to complete your assignments, even your body will thank you for giving it some motion in a period of physical inactivity.

  1. Use a Face Mask

It is so important to treat your skin well during a stressful time. Many of us breakout during times of pressure or strain and our skin can appear visibly worse. A face mask is a great investment because not only do they feel amazing and help you relax, but they work wonders on treating skin. One facemask that I love at the moment is the Gemstone Organic Crystalline Face Mud Mineral Masque because it really helps soothe an uneven complexion and it doesn’t take long to work its magic. Implementing a facemask ritual into your relaxation routine is perfect because even though you feel peaceful while the mask is on, once you remove the mask, you feel a great burst of energy – something that will really aid you in continuing to work on your assignments.

  1. Drinking Green Tea

Drinking green tea is personally one of my favorite ways to relax while completing an assignment. The warmth of the tea soothes my body and I feel at ease, even if I do have a lot to work on. What’s great about this ritual is that you can use the time to make the tea as a short break from your studies but you can enjoy the tea and its effects while you continue your work. Green tea is known by many to be one of the best beverages for stress-reduction in the entire world and if you make it a ritual to have a cup when you know you have a lot on your plate, you will truly understand why.

During your time of stress I hope you will utilize one of these methods to help calm your mind and body. Our lives can become hectic very quickly without notice so it’s always important to remember how to treat ourselves well.
