Full Moon in Aquarius ~ Breathing in the Light

On Thursday, August 15th @ 5:29 am PST (8:29 am EST) we have a Full Moon in Aquarius. A Moon in Aquarius calls us to dream, to feel her inspiration and become deeply aware that what affects one, affects us all. Aquarius is known as the Water Bearer, to bring forth the waters of wisdom ~ which I believe we all hold in our dreams. Dreaming is so important to creating the life we love. Without our inspirational dreams we are not the creative, vibrant, dancing hearts that we desire to be.

Aquarius is a masculine, air sign ruled by Uranus, making this a time where we can find personal freedom and individuality very important. Aquarius rules the calves and ankles; for me the calves can represent forward movement as they are the muscle that pulls up the heel up to allow use to move forward and the ankles represent the ability to receive pleasure.

Full Moons are directly opposite the Sun and it is at this time we can feel the pull of our two greatest lights. The Sun is masculine, and connected to our conscious mind, the Moon is feminine, and relates to our subconscious mind. They are fire and water, yin and yang that fit perfectly together and show us how we fit perfectly together.

As we join with the Moon in Aquarius we are also feeling the Suns energy in Leo. The Sun provides us the light and warmth and Leo opens our hearts to connect with our dreams and inspirations.

And under this Moon I want to bring in the constellation of Stars to add to this light. Did you know that every single cell in our bodies contains elements created in the burning center of a collapsing star? From the iron in our blood, to the calcium in our bones, and keratin in our hair! That my dear moon family is pure magic!

This is a time to use this dreamy sign to channel our inspirations from the subconscious into our consciousness. We must learn to speak to ourselves in ways that bring us in forward motion, to know that we hold the stars within us and that we are connected and created from the amazing beauty of the world we see ~ we are that, we are that, we are all of that.

This is a time to dance between the borders of fire and air ~ a time when we are in ‘just enough’ and ‘not quite there’ a time to stretch our wings and play with infinite possibilities that is opening to us. Creativity flows through us and moves us towards inspiration that wants to be realized. To start this journey we open to the creative source, not with plans and intentions, but with the energy that powers them, the power that moves the stars in the sky. When we step into the heart of this process, we can welcome its momentum and move between our subconscious and conscious mind, where we weave the powers of inspiration and realization together into a synergistic context for creative possibilities.

A Lovely Full Moon Ritual:

I suggest with this Sun and Moon Energy we are under that we find time in the next 48 hours to do the following:

  • During the day, go outside and look at the sun with your eyes closed and take in the bountiful warmth and light he offers, connect with the energy you share ~ feel the flow of energy moving through you.
  • Connect with your dreams from the time you step outside under the sun and see how they brighten you inside and out.
  • Then, tomorrow night or Thursday night, sit outside at dusk and wait for the first star to appear before the Full Moon rises (~7:45 pm PST) and as the Sun sets (~7:40 pm PST). Cleanse your space with smoke from sage or palo santo or I love myrrh and frankincense for this Moon. Then use a feather to move the smoke across the room and over your body ~ if you have a Raven feather she is a bird of magic and can offer you the courage to enter into your subconscious ~ a place to accept your gifts.

  • Watch as the stars begin to appear, one at a time at first and then as they come more quickly, like they are coming to join you at your celebration of you ~ of them. Breathe in their light, sparkle, and magic and know that is what you are made of ~ STARS.
  • Next, as the Moon begins to rise above the horizon, breathe in her light. As you take in her light, imagine all the lights merging together ~ the Sun, Star, and Moon ~ how do they feel? What creativity, dreams and inspiration are they showing you? What pleasures arise through these merging lights?
  • Now, place your dream(s) into your Full Moon Water by speaking them into the water. I have such a love of water and her life giving energies. Do not underestimate her power as when you speak them into the Moon Water, you are also connecting to the waters within you.

  • Create your altar for the Moon Water on a windowsill, near a window or outside where it can collect the most Moonlight. I encourage you to use one or all of the following gemstones for this Moon Ceremony :
    • Amethyst ~ wonderful for inspiring new ideas and creativity; a beautiful gentle stone for purifying and supporting the crown chakra to heighten intuition and inner wisdom.
    • Moon stone ~ wearing this stone can support you in bringing your unconscious into consciousness.
    • Garnet ~ a fire stone that is also known as a symbol for the feminine, use it to balance this air sign and its erratic influences from Uranus.
    • Turquoise ~ a stone that encourages us to honor ourselves as a creation and child of the divine….its beautiful hues are inspiring, hopeful, feminine and calming.
  • In the morning collect your Moon Water and take your first sip of your dreams you placed in them and the light that is keeping them alive.

Remember the story about the little boy went looking for the wishing gate? He was so intent on his purpose that he did not notice where he was going and he got lost and was very tired and so sat down on an old stile to rest. The north wind came along and offered to take him home and because he was so tired he accepted the North Wind’s offer. As they traveled along the North Wind asked him how he cam e to be lost. “I was looking for the Wishing Gate,” he replied. The Wind laughed all the way to his home. When they reached his doorstep the North Wind said, “The next time you go out to search for anything keep your wits about you. You were sitting on the Wishing Gate when I found you.”

The power of attention, intention, is called the Silence. Your imagination, your dreams, your inspirations are a divine gift. Use them.

Sending You Full Moon Love and Star Magic,
Debra

Pampering Your Feet ~ Why?

We walk on them everyday and yet most of us may have little knowledge of all the work these two perfect parts of our body do on the daily. Giving them some attention and love may just change the way you move through your day and possibly your life.

I have been a barefoot mama for the last 25 years. Ask anyone, I walk barefoot everywhere I can and my feet love it. This year I have been spending more time in the mountains where the air is dry and the soils have taken a toll on my feet, or maybe it is just that I have not been pampering them like I have in the past.

Either way, it has inspired me to research feet and the special power and beauty they hold.

Did you know?
  • You have 250,000 sweat glands in your two feet
  • A quarter of all the bones in your body are in your feet (26)
  • Your feet have 8,000 nerves ~ hence, why they are so susceptible to tickling!
  • Your feet can produce ½ pint of sweat a day
  • Your feet are you bodies natural shock absorbers
  • Your feet function best in their bare or natural state
  • Your feet walk an average of 110,000 miles in your lifetime
  • Each foot takes 1.5 times your body weight while you walk
  • The Achilles tendon is the STRONGEST tendon in the body

Pampering these sensitive, powerful, ‘wheels’ of motion can bring you good results in both movement and relaxation. So let’s go. Here is a great mixture of steps to take to pamper those feet of yours…do one or all of them.

Earthing ~ bare feet for health

Going barefoot, even when in the house is a great way to connect to the Earth. So if you have a yard or can go to the nearby park and place your feet on the grass or dirt, do it, daily! Feel the pleasure you experience feeling the surface beneath your feet. When your feet come in contact with the earth you receive electrons from her that are absorbed into your body through your feet. These electrons are nature’s biggest antioxidants and help neutralize excess free radicals that lead to inflammation and disease in the body.

Herbal Foot Soak

A good foot soak can soothe your muscles, hydrate your skin, remove toxins, relieve aches and pains, reduce swelling and keep your feet clean and healthy. This combination is great for calming sore, tired or swollen feet. The Epsom salts and herbs are great for easing the pain and flushing out the toxins and the essential oils will refresh your feet.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup of Epsom salts (or Celtic salts)
  • 3 Tablespoons of Chamomile, Thyme and Marjoram
  • 10 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil
  • 10 drops of Lavender Essential Oil

Directions:

  • Bring 4 quarts of water (preferably reverse osmosis or spring water) to a boil, remove the water from the heat and add your Epsom salts and herbs, preferably in a muslin bag or tea strainer so they are contained.
  • Cover and allow to steep for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Pour your herbal mixture into your basin adding additional warm water as needed to be sure your feet are covered.
  • Soak the feet for 15-20 minutes. This is a great time to read, listen to music or close your lovely eyes.

If you are looking for more of an antifungal foot soak, add ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar after straining the herbal mixture into your basin; and replace the Peppermint Oil with Tea Tree oil.

AND if you have time, after your soak, put your feet up on a chair seat or a few cushions for 10-15 minutes. This can add to your stress release and improve circulation.

Foot Clay Mask

This may come across as a little different, but trust me, this is going to be something you look forward to a second, third and fourth time! Foot masks are a great way to gently draw toxins from the feet, as they do on the face and body. They are cleansing, detoxifying and just plain good fun.

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons bentonite clay
  • 2 tablespoons filtered water
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

You might want to do this in the bathroom so that once the mask has dried you can rinse your feet without a trail of clay on the floor.

Directions:

  • Mix the bentonite clay, filtered water, and apple cider vinegar until it is the consistency of a soft paste. Add more water if needed.
  • Smooth over your feet and ankles and allow to dry ~ 8-10 minutes.
  • Rinse and pat dry.
  • If you like, after rinsing, use a natural bristle brush, pumice stone or loofah,to remove any remaining clay and dead skin.
  • Rinse and pat dry.
  • Spray your feet with a Gem Juice Hydrosol
  • Apply Sunstone Lotion to keep your feet soft

OR…a beautiful way to do this mask is to follow it with your herbal foot soak! In that case here are the steps:

  • Mix the bentonite clay, filtered water, and apple cider vinegar until it is the consistency of a soft paste. Add more water if needed.
  • Create your herbal mixture, place your pan on the floor near you and your basin. While the herbal mixture is cooling apply your foot mask over your feet and ankles and allow to dry ~ 8-10 minutes.
  • Place your feet in the water and soak your feet for 10-15 minutes.
  • If you like, use a natural bristle brush, pumice stone or loofah,to remove any remaining clay and dead skin.
  • Pat dry.
  • Spray your feet with your favorite Gem Juice Hydrosol
  • Apply Sunstone Lotion or favorite Body Butter to keep your feet soft

Because we hide our feet in shoes, sandals and boots, they can sometimes get lost in our self-care routines. Yet, the condition of our feet can determine how well they support our bodies.

Don’t be fooled by these simple steps ~ they pack in a whole lotta love! Pampering your feet will improve how your entire body moves and feels. Happy feet are strong feet.

Big love,
Debra

Full Thunder Moon ~ Capricorn Rising

Full Moon in Capricorn ~ Tuesday, July 16, 2019 @ 2:38pm PST

I love the Full Moon in Capricorn ~ why? Maybe because I'm a Cappie and it resonates so deeply with my soul...yet, it may be the Thunder Moon, I love a good shake up in my life.

And with this Full Thunder Moon following on the back of the partial lunar eclipse, we can expect some shake up. Yet, I want to emphasize that I believe shake-ups during a Full Moon are times to let loose those parts of ourselves, or our lives, that we are ready to let go of. This is a double Lunar ~ a Full Moon and a Lunar Eclipse ~ a time of a strong feminine energy where we connect with our emotions, with our bodies, and our intuition. It might even be a time for re-birth.

How can you break out of the mold?

We also have Capricorns ruling planet, Saturn, in retrograde, in Capricorn, all of July. Look at areas of your life that need to be reworked.

Where are you holding resistance?

And this Full Moon is placed in the third house ~ the house where we connect with our intelligence and share it effectively so that we achieve our desired result. The words you speak and communicate are what are a part of your own nourishment.

What are you investing in?

Capricorn is a mountain climber and can teach that constancy bears fruit. A mountain is still, it is a place to create a still center amid changes. When we retreat to this place of stillness we can find a new perspective, one that helps us to create a firm foundation for new growth.

Thunder brings change, a spark of the new, shock or upheaval, It is the great awakener that can bring life to new growth. It sets things in motion, creates decisive action and inspires initiation

This is a time to come from a more feminine way of relating...of being open, loosening, and allowing space for new influences..

What must change?

When our outer world is shaken up, it is the best time to stay awake, to feel, to be aware of the quivers of the energy of change underway. Remember, you are only passing through this point in time for today, be true to yourself. In the moment of change there is only truth, knowledge, understanding. Regrets vanish, along with the past to which they belong.

What do you bring with you into new situations?

"The truths you choose to nurture and cultivate in your life become the foundation of your personal ecosystem, they are your energy source for your creative action."

What will this new place ask of you?

We place a lot of focus on the Full and New Moons, however, I believe the true work, the hardest work, is done in the space between them. The goat, as I know her, is a creature of true and gentle wildness. She offers you a strong faith, and  the male goat, the buck, the opportunity for fertile ground to sink into.
Gemstones to work with under this Full Moon in Capricorn are smokey quartz, garnet, turquoise, lapis lazuli, agate, or onyx. Colors are earth tones, or deep blues. Essential oils you may want to work with are Vetiver, to ease the need for overworking and to connect with your emotional needs; Rosemary & Cypress to support you in believing in yourself and see beyond any negativity.

This night, I call on you to move outside at the last light of the day. To catch the first stars that grace the sky and let them twinkle some love into your heart to work with under this strong, ground shaking Full Moon.

And don't forget to put your Moon Water out tonight Gems ~

Big, Full Moon Love to each of you,
Debra

Tips for Your Summer Sun Skin

The Summer Heat is here, and although the sun does provide us with our ‘sunshine vitamin D, a lot of anything is hard on the skin and that includes our much loved summer rays.

Taking care of our skin can be as simple as a morning and evening routine that refreshes and revitalizes.

Tips for a summer morning routine:

  • Mornings are a great time to freshen your skin. After 7-8 hours of sleep, it is good to wash off all the mild impurities and oils that gathered overnight. Our gentle morning Sun Clean was made for all skin types. This sweet cleanser was created to bring your skin back into pH balance while still giving your skin antibacterial morning love. It will leave your skin clean and fresh.

Use first thing on rising, and if you like you can even leave it one for a minute to give yourself a simple morning masque. Then rinse off with cold water to give you and your skin a wake up call it will love. And if possible, use cold, filtered water to rinse your face so as not to disturb the pH balance.

  • Adding a glass of lemon water first thing on waking is great to help detoxify your skin from the inside out.
  • Next, spray your face with your favorite Gem Juice. Hydrosols are incredibly good for your summer skin. They feed your cells with freshness and moisture without the grease. After spraying, let the Gem Juice absorb completely before using your organic face crème.

  • Last, Moisturize! Moisturizing is important to keep skin healthy and balanced. Choose a face crème that will work well with your skin type. You want to give your skin the moisture it needs to get through the day.

How well do you know your skin? I offer a free skin reading on the website that can guide you in choosing the crème and gem juice that best fits your skin.

Tips for a summer night skin routine:

After a tiring day amid the heat and sweat, it’s great if you can take the time to remove the sun rays and overall environmental grime. Making this a priority can keep your skin clean and healthy.

  • First thing you are going to want to remove after a long day is your makeup/sunscreen and the days environmental traces that collect on your skin. It is important to give your skin the chance to breathe. Using coconut oil is a natural and excellent way to remove your makeup.
  • Next you will want to wash your face with a gentle cleanser. We created our Moon Clean for just that ~ to remove dead skin cells and clean without drying out your skin like soaps or harsh cleansers.
  • Using a hydrosol after cleansing will again feed your cells with freshness and moisture. After spraying, let the Gem Juice absorb completely before using your organic face crème.
  • Last choose a moisturizer that will aid your skin in the healing it needs. One that heals and when using it at night will give it the time it needs to work its magic.

Here are a few more tips to heal summer skin and can be done morning or night, whenever you and your skin have the time for a pampering ~

Herbal Facial Steams

Herbal facial steams are wonderful for removing dead skin cells and ridding your skin of toxins. They will clean your pores, along with hydrating and softening your skin. It is a truly simple way to open your pores, increase circulation, and remove bacteria, makeup, and sunscreen residue. They are great for all skin types and help your skin to better to absorb your face crème. These are magic in my book and used regularly, you will definitely see a difference in your skins health! Here is a great video on how to do a gemstone facial steam.

Mineral Mud Masques

Doing a mud mask weekly is so good for your skin. It exfoliates by tightening the skin as it dries, allowing skin cells to stick to the surface of the mask. The dead skin is then washed off with the removal of the masque. Adding in the benefits of gemstone powders is a plus with your Mineral Masque that will add to your clean, fresh, glow!

This is a great time of year to add in a few masque additional options that can aid in creating fresh, clean, glowing skin right from your summer garden or kitchen!

Apple Cider Vinegar facial masque:

This is a great face mask for those of you with oily skin that need a deep cleaning and this is another wonderful way to bring your skin into pH balance. Make a simple mask with ¼ cup of cider vinegar and ¼ cup water. Apply on your face and wait till it dries. Rinse with cool water! Great for the summer months.

Watermelon & Cumber facial masque

These two high water content beauties are not only good for you internally but your skin will love the refreshing and revitalizing properties in this face mask. It can also aid in removing blemishes and marks ~
Mix 2 tablespoons of watermelon and cucumber juice with 2 teaspoons of yogurt. Apply and let sit for 15 minutes. Rinse with cool water. It will do wonders for your skin!

Summer dryness is something we forget to address and with the longer days, lots of outdoor activities, and warm summer evenings, this is a great time to give your skin a little extra love!

Happy Summer,
xx Debra

New Moon in Cancer ~ Solar Eclipse

Tomorrow we have a New Moon in Cancer with a Full Solar Eclipse, The Solar Eclipse begins at 9:55 am PST (12:55 pm EST). The New Moon is at 12:17 pm PST (3:17 EST).

This season of Cancer/Capricorn Eclipses started in July 2018 and has a two year cycle going into 2020. Is there a Theme that is playing in your life? It is also a time to reflect on where you were in your life during the last Cancer/Capricorn Eclipse Season, which was from 2009 - 2011.

Cancer is ruled by the Moon and is the sign of the Sacred Feminine. Here the Moon is in her most nurturing water sign. She is the creative mother energy.

With this New Moon and Solar Eclipse energy, we hold the potential to dream the dreams of the Goddess, breathing in the masculine and feminine energies of love.

This may be a time for you to dive deep to find that inner clarity, to feel a charge of new energy, to decide what you will take on, to make the preparations and march out!

Working under this watery moon, being around, near, or in the water can be very nurturing and healing.

Here are a few thoughts for working with this lovely energy:

  • I strongly suggest that you play in her healing waters: ocean, hot springs, river, lake or bathing at home. If possible, completely immerse yourself in her beautiful, silky, watery, energy and feel her silence and movement and how it can carry you forward through this eclipse season and into 2020.
  • Use one or more of these gemstones to support the Theme that you are working with:
    • Being in the Flow ~ Chalcedony & Moss Agate
    • Self-awareness & Balance ~ Clear Quartz & Red Jasper
    • Strengthening & Growth ~ Apatite & All the Calcites
    • Happiness & Pleasure ~ Rose Quartz & Sunstone
    • Revitalizing ~ Red Garnet & Carnelian
    • Openness & Expansion ~ Aquamarine & Apophyllite
  • And here is a lovely ritual for the Masculine, Solar Energy of the Eclipse ~ write your intention/wishes on a bay leaf and burn it. Blow the ashes into the wind, near the body of water you are immersing yourself in, or if at home, blow them out your front door. As you scatter the ashes, ask the Universe to bring these things to you! The Bay Laurel is Sacred to Apollo, God of prophecy, healing, music & solar light.

Take in the influence and energies of this New Moon/Solar Eclipse ~ it is a time to be called and moved, and always a time to encounter something new.

New Moon Blessings,
Debra

SUN POWER ~ Celebrating the Summer Solstice

We harness the power of the Summer Solstice by deeply connecting to our inner Sun and the Sweetness of Life and allowing our gifts to flow forth ~ Sisters of Topaz

HAPPY SUMMER SOLSTICE!

Today we celebrate the SUMMER SOLThe Summer Solstice, also known as Litha or Hafmas, is celebrated every year when the Sun moves into the sign of Cancer. This is the time when the earth is midpoint in her journey around the sun, creating the longest day and shortest night of the year.

Mother Earth brings forth her greatest abundance under these long days of the sun… where we see the manifestation of what was planted in the early weeks of spring. These are the days of lush greens and bursting flowers, trees, and gardens.

We are also under the light of a Honey Moon, because this is when our sweet bees are busy making honey. Mead made from honey is regarded as the divine solar drink filled with magical and life restoring properties; and mead is used in many celebrations to honor of the life-giving abundance of the Sun (missing you sweet moon sister Pam and our mead celebrations <3)

This is also a great time to work with your Solar Plexus, Manipuri. Your energy center that radiates vital life energy, your fire. The Solar energies support you in connecting with your inner light, your the place of consciousness, clarity and awareness.

Do you remember the beautiful story of Aladdin and his wonderful lamp? I believe this story symbolizes the indwelling power that we all possess. In the story, Aladdin had only to rub the lamp and a powerful genie appeared ready to do his bidding ~ fortune, fame, power, were his for the asking!

I believe the lamp represents the conscious mind, the rubbing of the lamp teaches us that we only need to understand our own power, and the genie represents the subconscious mind, “that mighty power within you waiting for recognition and unfoldment, that when aroused and used will bring you to the realization of your fondest dreams”

Things don’t spring instantly into a state of full growth, nor does wisdom or knowing, they must be nourished with patience over time. And when we are fully present to our growth and all that it has to offer we find that we begin a beautiful journey of creative engagement with the world. We become fully engaged with present opportunities.

On June 21st we also have Neptune beginning her reverse movement. She will be retrograde for the next four months making this a beautiful time to turn inward and tune into your core, your inner knowing. Although her retrogrades tend to have a light influence on most, she can be a powerful ally when you place your focus on creativity or spirituality. Catch her influence by working with your solar plexus, your center, to cultivate your own quality of character and personal power.

Here are a few altar options to add to your ritual or ceremony:

  • Colors to work with ~ yellows, blues, greens
  • Gemstones to work with:
~ Pyrite is a stone of boldness, warmth and sun power, it balances the solar plexus, encourages leadership and self worth and brings confidence and persistence to your life.
~ Tigers Eye carries the energy of the sun and earth, is a stone of courage and determination and balances your solar plexus chakra to enhance feelings of self-empowerment.
~ Sunstone promotes joy, reflects qualities of life and warmth, nurtures personal power.
~ Citrine warm and comforting, it awakens creativity and imagination
~ Carnelian stimulates creativity for new pursuits, encourages motivation, and rekindles passions!
  • Flower: the sunflower is the symbol for the Sun. It has a beautiful energy to work with as it always turns its face toward the sun as it moves across the sky, from east to west… a process called phototropism. It is a reminder to keep your eyes on the higher light in all that you do
  • Herbs: this is a lovely time of year to harvest herbs if you can. If not, you can get most of these are your local farmers market or food co-op. Here are a few Sun Solstice herbs that can be used for a beautiful facial steam or tea, Chamomile, St. Johns Wort, Calendula. Here is a link on directions for herbal facial steams.
  • Tree energy to work with is the OAK TREE: gather lots of oak leaves! The oak has deep rooted energy to awaken great strength and endurance. It is said that this tree is “a cosmic storehouse of wisdom embodied in its towering strength” and the Oak Tree is one of the most beloved trees in the world. It symbolizes knowledge and strength.
  • Bee ~ this beautiful insect symbolizes the sun, the goddess, personal power, celebration and community. For me the bee has been a symbol of the sweetness of life. Add honey to your tea or burn beeswax candles for the day. Another way this winged beauty can share wisdom with us is in working with hexagrams; honeycombs are made up of six sided hexagons. Six is symbolic of love, harmony, and balance.

Ritual ~ Solstice Flower Medicine Mandala

This ritual is designed to bring nature and solar power into your heart and living space ~

  • Starting today think about where you can take a walk to gather flowers, grasses and herbs. If you don’t have an area where you can find wild flowers, visit your local farmers market or coop and grab a bouquet of beauties. Once you have your flowers break off the stems if you like and place them between parchment paper. See pictures below:

Place heavy books or boxes or even a pot with water on top of them and let them sit for a few days if possible, at least overnight.
  • Gather together the following items the day before the ceremony:
    • A board or paper that you can work on ~ if paper, be sure it is heavy enough to hang once you are done with your work.
    • Colored pencils
    • Pressed flowers/herbs
    • Glue ~ you can use an acid free adhesive, or elmers, modge podge, or glue stick.
    • Tweezers (not necessary, but nice to have on hand!)
    • Toothpicks
    • Small string
    • Gemstones
    • Candles
    • Herbal Tea
    • Smudge stick or instrument for cleansing the space
  • If you like, you can print out the honeycomb hexagram below and place your gemstones in the combs of your desire. Then place a glass or bowl with water on top of them and leave it out under the moon the night before and in the sun up until your ceremony. Use this water to make your tea below.
  • While you are gathering your flowers, be thoughtful about what you want to create and open to connect with under this powerful energy of the sun.
  • If you can work with the energies on the day of the Summer Solstice that would be lovely, but is not necessary. Creating at high noon is perfect as that is when the sun is at the highest point! Even if you are not able to work on your Flower Medicine Mandala, it is good to at least be thoughtful during the high noon period of the Solstice to invoke the energies you would like to work with when creating your Mandala.
  • Cleanse your workspace with sound or smoke.
  • Light a candle; make a cup of herbal tea and place your items on the table or workspace.
  • Hold your gemstones in your hand and if possible sit in a spot where you can catch the light and warmth of the sun. Use this meditation:

Find your energy center, if you want place your hands with your gemstones on your Solar Plexus. And remember this, that in your body, which holds the universe, you carry undiluted potential….your highest good…your truest possibilities…all your fertile dreams. You are both pregnant with potential and empty and open for receiving. Feel the potential that you carry within this body and also the gifts and warmth of this Sun Powered Energy. Sit until you feel complete and ready to create.
  • On your board or paper make a circle ~ you can do this by cutting your string to a size that is the width of the circle you have room to create on the board (remember to add a little extra length to the string to be able to tie it around the pencil). Pin the string at the center of the paper and using the pencil create the circle.
  • See your circle as a medicine shield ~ one that can set your boundaries and ignite your power center. In the center or body of the circle/wheel, write all you are desiring to have, do, or experience; or words that will inspire you to remember your power center or Manipura. Include everything that brings you joy and happiness using your color pencils. Make it appealing to your eyes and body with the different colors using those that are bringing you the feelings you are writing.
  • Once you have finished with your words, glue your flowers on top of the words creating a flower mandala. You may find that you are drawn to a flower/word combo, or that you want certain parts of words to be seen or hidden. Have fun playing with this and the energies it invokes.
  • Hang this up or place it where you can receive its energy and messages as we move towards the winter solstice. Many times we can find that messages, visions, or dreams will support us in our work. It may be in a discussion or a meeting or argument or a circle that something bubbles up from this type of work. Be excited for what is to come!

Take time to gather up the solar energy to warm you heart and spirit from this beautiful planet we are blessed to call our Sun. SOLAR UP so that you can carry this energy forward as we move into the waning days ahead.

With light and love,
Debra

New Moon in Gemini ~ BE the Honey Bee

Yes, the New Moon in Gemini is tomorrow, June 3rd at 3:02 am PST (6:02 am EST). Gemini's have been described as honey bees moving from flower to flower collecting all the information they can in the world in order to make sense of their purpose. Gemini is an air sign ruled by the planet Mercury, the planet of the mind and communication.

The honey bee is a symbol of extracting the sweetness of life. They share with us the promise that is we but pursue our dreams, no matter how great, they can be fulfilled.

Air signs teach us to find a way through ~ as the wind ~ by penetrating and creating a subtle yet far-reaching influence. This is a time to open up space for your imagination and to 'breathe' inspiration into your body.

Here are a few thoughts for preparing for your ritual:

  • When creating your altar and sacred space use a feather to fan the smoke ('air') from incense, palo santo or sage, over your altar, space and yourself. Or use a flute or horn (something that takes air to create the music) for cleansing your space.
  • Colors to use are yellows, blues or silver.
  • You can also add fragrant flowers or an essential oil to bring scent into the air.
  • Air is associated with iron and copper, so it would be good to wear these jewelry items or place them on your altar.

Meditation can make life sweeter! Here are a few short meditations to move air ~ one in speaking the other in breathing:

BODY MEDITATION ~ this only takes a few minutes but is very enlightening:

  • Sit down and tell yourself a truth out loud, such as I love to paint. Go inward and notice how your body feels when you tell yourself a truth.
  • Get up and do something around the house for just one minute ~ no more.
  • Sit down again and say to yourself out loud, I hate to paint. Notice how your body responds to this message ~ something happens in your body when you tell yourself a lie ~ get to know that response.

With practice ~ this exercise will help you to discriminate your body’s wisdom and teach you to follow your truth.

BREATHING Match your inhales and exhales.

  • Take in a breath ~ a normal, comfortable breath. As you do this count how long it takes you, it may be to the count of 3, 4 or 5. Then exhale for the same count. Do this for 1 minute or up to 3 minutes. Setting a timer is a good idea so that you can stay focused on your breathing. When you are done notice how you feel in your body.

This is a simple and lovely exercise to bring you in back into your body and connect.

May these sweet meditations show you the journey, carry your dreams forward.

New Moon Wishes to each you,
Debra

Full Moon In Scorpio ~ Spiral of Life

We enter a Full Moon in Scorpio this evening at 5:11 pm PST (2:11 pm EST). I am always one to fall deep into the preparation for a Scorpio Moon and find that it is a few days before this particular Moon that I can truly find what I need to release. Scorpio is a sign that delves deeply into the emotional waters and this Moon is full of feminine energy as Pat Liles writes:

Our Scorpio Full Moon is heavy with feminine energy in the earth and water elements.  Let the penetrating, sensual wisdom energy of this moon-gift transform, regenerate and heal every part of your life and when satiated, radiate it out for the whole world to benefit.  Come together with your circle of intimates and partake of the rich feminine influences and walk in nature to ground and receive the blessings of the invisible world.

I have been preparing for a Full Moon Ceremony tonight and what came forward for me this Full Moon is the Nautilus. The Nautilus brings messages from the depths of the oceans connecting us to our ancient wisdom and knowledge. She is a living fossil that has survived the earth’s oceans for over 500 million years! As the Nautilus grows it continues to stay connected to its central point. This is a beautiful reminder that as we grow and evolve we become more centered and move back to our center ~ your experiences lead to wisdom. This beautiful Cephalopod also teaches us to grab opportunities as they come our way and her medicine will guide you to connect to your intuition and let go of past emotions that do not serve you.. The nautilus shell is a perfect spiral and reflects the order of the universe connecting us to our ancient wisdom and knowledge.

I offer you a simple yet beautiful way to work with tonights Full Moon in Scorpio and the Nautilus ~ work with her today, tonight, or tomorrow.

  1. Below are two Nautilus Mandala’s ~ choose one and print it out.

  1. Tune into the energy and wisdom of the Nautilus. Let her help you to unfold life mysteries to you. Connect to your ancient wisdom.
  2. Grab colored pencils, crayons or markers to color your mandala.
  3. Choose a number between 1 and 10.
  4. Look below to see the word and energy connected to your number.
  5. While coloring your mandala use the colors, the energy of the nautilus and the energy of this Full Moon in Scorpio to release what you need around the word you are working with.

For example ~ if you are working with the word resentment ~ think of all the ways you hold on to resentment and how you can learn to release it, or bring to mind what/who you are holding resentment for and laugh at how much time/energy you have spent on holding that resentment…use the mandala to create new space around the released energy and fill it with thoughts that bring you joy or happiness as you color.

  6. Once you have finished the coloring the mandala write down three words that you want to carry forward that came to you while coloring. For example it could be …release, joy, centeredness.
  7. Place the mandala somewhere you will see DAILY for the next two weeks. Use it to discover the intention you will place under the New Moon in Gemini on May 25th.

Take it where it wants to go and ~ enjoy.  And don't forget to put your Full Moon Water out gems!

Wishing you the Moon & the Stars,
Debra

Words to work with on releasing

  1. Resentment
  2. Jealousy
  3. Revenge
  4. Vendettas
  5. Betrayals
  6. Blocks to transformation
  7. Destructive relationships
  8. Unhealthy joint financial situations
  9. Obstacles to having a healthy sex life
  10. Resistance to changing paradigms

New Cazimi Moon in Taurus ~ Grounding Your Energies in the Soil

Tomorrow at 3:45 pm PST (6:45 pm EST) we have a New Cazimi Moon in Taurus. Taurus is a feminine, fixed, earth sign ruled by Venus. She rules the thyroid, throat, lower jaw, chin, ears, tongue and vocal chords ~ hello Visuddha (fifth) chakra!

Cazimi Moons hold a high energy 30 minutes before and after the New Moon (3:15 - 4:15 pm PST)~ this one holds wonderful energy for starting important projects and intention setting.

When the Moon is in Taurus we may find a need to slow our pace, eat a good meal, listen to music that feeds our soul, or appreciate the beauty of the season. I find that this earth energy calls me to put my hands in the dirt ~ a lovely way to plant your seed(s) of intention.

Earth energy gives us the grounding to connect to that space at our center where we can open and listen to our inner wisdom. It is the place where the very present truth vibrates through us like the sound of the drumbeat. Inner truth and trust are like two sides of the drum … when you are present to the space at your center you connect to trust.

Remember, earth is connected to heaven ~ she receives the warmth of the sun, the rain that falls from the clouds, and holds the rich soil that seeds need to grow from. She can hold your intention and give it form and sustain its growth. She is ready to lend you her strength.

Connecting with your sacred space while planting your seeds of intention creates a connection of heaven and earth within you.

Under this Earthy Moon and these warming spring days ~ let us plant a Moon Garden! Planting a Moon Garden is a lovely way to connect to the energy, cycles and beauty of the Moon. And if you love to garden it is a way to nurture both you and mother earth.

Planting & Designing Your Moon Garden

Under the heightened energies of the New and Full Moons we experience our highest tides ~ but did you know that it is a time when the waters beneath the earth are also affected? The same gravitational pull that is placed on the waters of the ocean also pull the ground water upward bringing moisture to the soils at the surface, encouraging your seeds to swell and burst into sprouts!

You can plant your flowers in a circle or a half moon shape so that when they bloom the shape of the Moon is revealed. Find space in your garden, start some seedlings indoors, or plan your garden for the next New Moon. Whatever you do, it will carry the energy and intentions of your heart ~ so don’t wait, start today <3.

Planting a garden of white and silvery flowers that bloom at night can add a radiant, shimmering energy to your evening rituals. Here are a few flowers I love.

These Flowers are Fragrant and if you can place them
close to your home you can also enjoy their evening fragrance.

Evening Primrose ~ photo by basicgardendiy

Evening Primrose (oenothera) ~ a night bloomer that attracts moths and nocturnal bee’s. The flowers are said to be from the ethereal realm of fairies and have a sweet fragrance that can be enjoyed during the moonlight hours. The symbolism of primrose flowers is patience, kindness and gentleness ~ connecting you to the solar plexus and heart chakra.

Moonflower ~ photo by better homes & garden

Moonflower (datura inoxia) ~ catching her unawares in the moonlight hours is magical, as you can be sure to experience the full glory of her blooms; the night air swirling with her rich, intoxicating scent. Glowing like the moon these flowers contain the mysteries of your intuition and connect you with the mystical movement of the stars and moon. She will connect you to your crown chakra.
Note: these flowers are cousins to morning glories so they will need a trellis or support to climb

Night Phlox ~ photo by suttons.co.uk

Night Phlox (zaluzianskya capensis) ~ also known as midnight candy; the fragrance of the night blooms are reminiscent of honey or vanilla. Coming from the greek meaning “flame” these beauties will also connect you to your crown chakra AND are known to stir inner courage and honesty to all that look upon them.

Night Gladiolus ~ photo by lawneq

Night Gladiolus (gladiolus tristis)~ although night gladiolus are not a nocturnal plant ~ these creamy yellow, spicy scented flowers have the strongest scent at night. These flowers symbolize strength and moral integrity.

A second way to plant a Moon Garden is to bring the
Moon out during the day by planting these sweet plants

Dusty Miller ~ photo by rainbow seed company

Dusty Miller (senecio cineraria) beautiful silvery, velvety soft plant that is wonderful for contrasting dark foliage and is also a great bed plant ~ represents happiness and delicacy.

Mugwort ~ photo by herbco.com

Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) this plant is not only connected to the Moon but is also known for enhancing your dreams.

A few other day plants for you to consider are Lambs Ears, Silver Thyme, and Silver Sage.

And I could not leave out this most auspicious herb!

Moonwort photo by ebps.uk

Moonwort (lunaria annua) ~ in the language of flowers this plant represents money, sincerity & honesty. It has dried pods that are beautiful and can be used later in ceremony. However, please note that this is a biannual plant ~ meaning it lives two years and will flower in the second year. It's flowers will be followed by a dollar coin sized flat pod that changes from green to brown and then as the seed drops, to the beautiful silver color… so planting these for the first two years will ensure flowering each year.

Ways that you can use your flowers after they have blossomed under the energy of the moon are many! You can cut and dry the flowers to use in creating mandalas or art work or add them to your sage bundle; pluck the flowers at the height of their bloom and place them in a bath to catch their healing energy. I encourage you to explore the myriad of possibilities in which their energy speaks to your creativity.

The beauty of flowers has been shared throughout time as a way to evoke feelings and thoughts that are sometimes difficult to find words for ~ using this time to place your intentions can bring you grounding, joy, and keep it flowing throughout the summer. If you want to add some additional Taurus love to this garden, add a few pieces of rose quartz, jade or agate!

A few thoughts to consider while you are planting or planing ~

Where do you place your trust?
How do you slow down best?
What is important to start under this New Moon energy?
Where are you feeling this earth energy in your body?

And please share your experiences, I would love to hear what heart openings your garden has to offer you.

Sending you New Moon Love,
Debra

Full Moon in Libra ~ Rising, Releasing, Remembering

Tomorrow morning we have a Full Moon in Libra at 4:12 am PDT (7:12 am EST) ~ this is our second Full Moon in Libra this year and one that can support you in trying again! When the Moon is on the cusp (29 degrees) it can yield a strong energy to the sign in which it is residing. A Pink Moon in Libra warms our hearts and increases our need to be near and around beauty ~ and doesn’t mother earth provide us with that option at this time of year in an explosive way!

Libra is a masculine, cardinal, air sign. He adores balance and harmony and is ruled by Venus ~ planet of love (interesting female and male energies at work here).

Full Moons can stir up energy that wants to be completed. Around 60 hours prior to a full moon we can find that stirring rise up in us ~ do you have any remembrance(s) of how you felt on Tuesday evening (~4:12 pm PDT or 7:12 pm EDT)? Or maybe this energy is up in you now? However this Moon feels to you, it can guide and teach you, and remember, my words here are just that, words. How you feel, how you respond to her light and fullness, are completely yours and unique and beautiful. For me, there are even times I find the Moon under her Gibbous energy a bigger shift than even the Full Moon energies…and sometimes I find the beautiful star nation speaks to me on a deeper level and I miss them under the Full Moons light….but more on that later.

Yet, do not get me wrong ~ I LOVE my Moon time. I move my bed around or sleep at the opposite end just to get her light to shine on my dreams and me at night! I talk with her and find her comforting at all phases ~ but for now, lets think about a way to use this lovely light to move into the realm of completion ~ one small or big task is perfect!

So here is a lovely and simple ritual to guide your energies ~

  • STEP 1: This beautiful air sign is doubled love for bringing something to completion, meaning you are loved and in a love bubble! Is there a relationship that you love ~ yet maybe is not the one that brings you the outcome you want? It could be a relationship with a part of you too? Is there a project that needs completion? A dream that wants to be brought to completion? Anything goes here and if it can represent, balance or harmony or love ~ that is even more powerful! I guess if I really look at my own words ~ that pretty much covers everything! Lets build a bridge to completion.
  • STEP 2: Find a picture or write a sentence or speak your thoughts on how to bring this relationship or dream or project to completion. For example if you have a fear of not finishing a project, find a picture of someone crossing a finish line or celebrating the success of a project completed etc! Or if you have a dream of getting a new car, find the picture of the car you want ~ make if specific, color, model, year!!
  • STEP 3: Place the picture or sentence or words into a little ‘god box’ as my sister calls them! I have one that a dear friend gifted me, but it can be anything that holds love or beauty to the eye ~ it could even be a cloth that you wrap it in.
  • STEP 4: Create an altar or mesa in a place where it will catch the moon light. I place mine outside in the early evening. Use things that represent love to you ~ they can be ANYTHING. I have created one that I am sharing below. I have my two favorite statues from Africa, one that reminds me that I am constantly pregnant with ideas and creative juices to fill my world and heart; the second that reminds me that I hold both the masculine and feminine; the masai necklace reminds me that I am part of and come from all continents; my two sweet little round containers hold special tools I use in ceremony (which I love more than anything!); the beautiful turquoise box is the one my dear friend hand-crafted for me that I place my dreams into daily, weekly or monthly ~ I love to open the box, whisper my words of love into the box, and then gently and lovingly close the top; the paper heart on the top is made by my magical grandsons, Isaac & Theo, and who can't benefit from the love of the pure child; the eagle feather is a gift from a dear cousin, and reminds me that we all hold the spirit of air to soar; and finally, my beloved gemstones ~ these are the ones that speak to me today and I love that my cowrie shells called to me as they are a feminine sign for fertility. Create your altar and add things as they call you ~ sometimes these special calls come late in the day or just as I roll into bed! Making it is the most endearing and loving gesture you can give yourself.

  • STEP 5: Fill a container with water and if you choose add a crystal ~ remember the rules on gemstones that are safe in water. Use a container that can hold enough water to supply you with a small drink daily over the next two weeks. This week I am only using water, as my gemstones will gather the energy I am calling for and I will carry them, wear them, and use them in other drinks over these two weeks along with the moon water.
  • STEP 6: As you place your water and altar out under the moonlight, call on the energy of snake, the medicine that teaches us that we are all universal beings. Let her kundalini energy rise up to the mental plane of your body ~ the plane of intellect, power, charisma and leadership and then to your spiritual plane where it becomes wisdom, connection, wholeness and understanding ~ and then when there release your thoughts on whatever you want to bring to completion and watch it move out into the world and beyond you ~ let the winds of time take it where it needs to go and take a deep breath and smile beautiful one. It is now released.
  • STEP 7: Take this beauty to sleep with you and if you can catch her light as much as possible ~ maybe even sleep outside!

This ceremony is something I will also be doing tonight and so let us love and release together my dear moon family. I have been slow in communicating these last months and want you to know that I have many things stirring ~ some are big for me and some are big for us! So please know that in my silence I am still working with you on a level of love that I hope is palpable and full of juicy sweetness.

A reminder: the square of Jupiter & Neptune in Pisces shares infinite possibilities with you ~ grab these positive, loving energies and create your dreams and your life and your loves. Life is a crazy ride and we all have our ups and downs and that is what keeps us beautiful inside and out ~ yet, some days we must find the beauty in every thing ~ because it is what reminds us that we indeed can find infinite possibilities everywhere.

Remember, each day the world is born anew, we arise in newness, and each moment is a new beginning.

It is NEVER TOO LATE!

Full Moon Love & Blessings,
Debra
